Its all about the eyes...

I am super into playing around with eye palettes right now,  spring and summer are here it is nice to be able to play with lighter eye shadows, peaches, pinks and beiges. I am desperate to get my hands on the Chocolate bar summer palette which is full of gorgeous colours for this summer. However, I have found a trick of using your bronzer, highlighter and blusher as eyeshadows that give you this glowy/fresh look. I added lashes and eyeliner, but I also love the bare look of peachy colours and just a light amount of mascara for a day look.
I am going to be posting more makeup and styling posts soon, so keep an eye out!!

Fashion styling / Monday inspiration

I have always been one to take along shopping if you need a straight forward answer if something looks good on you or not, in a polite way of course or to help put an outfit together. Sometimes a product looks amazing on the hanger but doesn't work for your body shape, but this can always happen in reverse...an item may not look all that much on the rail but may suit your body shape perfectly. I have always been into hair, makeup and clothes...but I have always loved the editorial and extreme ends that could make you look a little crazy going to work in, but that doesn't mean you can't play around with these looks.

I have become a little obsessed with Pinterest recently as its a major role of collecting images for my uni course. I have been really inspired by stylists such as Kate Young, Rachel Zoe, Grace Coddington and Monica Rose...I have really been inspired to focus on this route as a career along with my love for running events! I love the fact there are no limits, you can go as extreme as you feel required to get the look you need. Over the summer, I am excited to build up my portfolio for styling and have some fun with shoots that are creative and push the boundary to the unexpected.

M A C X AVAF- MAC Nottingham Launch

The new MAC store has opened in Nottingham and it's definitely better than the small store they previously had. The new store consists of products to buy and also a make-up bar area where you can get your makeup done professionally. It had a great bubbly atmosphere and the interior is amazing!!  Fun yet sophisticated. At the moment they have a colour carnival of creativity, costumed models, DJ's, live art body painting and makeup bars in full flow, so if you're in Nottingham be sure to go and check it out!

The interior stands out most for me, I love the layout and product placement of having other items that work well together being placed together, the customer can then get an idea of what would work well together. BUT at the back...the MAC sign is gorgeous to me, the electric colour palette sums up the brand, its fun yet it's powerful! I will be booking an appointment to get my make-up done here very soon!

FENTY Puma X Rihanna

Rihanna recently showcased her first fashion line for Puma’s Fall 2016 collection entitled “FENTY Puma by Rihanna” at NYFW as the creative director. Rihanna made her mark with her 'genderless' designs and industrial ice jungle setting. Rihanna created an 'arctic urban forest', sending models down a chrome catwalk in a series of bold monochrome designs which looked to be influenced by the same urban street style of her own.  The catwalk was led by the Hadid sisters, Gigi and Bella and Rihanna herself.

Hair and make-up followed the epitome of glamorous goth, wearing very little make-up and saving it for a dramatic matte black lip and slicked-back painted white roots. Hair and make-up in my opinion can make a huge impact on an outfit, something that I am hugely passionate about, and there is no doubt that this look brings out the best of this collection.

The collection was a mix of form-fitting streetwear - skin-tight jumpsuits, crop tops and hot pants and oversized outerwear - large down coats, furry hoodies and chunky hooded scarves.

According to a Puma press release, Rihanna aimed to do away with gender-bound designs, opting instead to create a collection of genderless clothing which would appeal to both men and women.
The release explained: 'Rihanna challenged traditional male and female silhouettes and blurred the lines between genders that are often times too rigid for her fashion tastes.’

My guilty Sephora haul

IMG_1922

New York as you know leads to a lot of temptation when it comes to shopping. I love make-up, i love how experimental you can be and how you can completely change your look by using make up. So...when i first entered Sephora in New York i was blown away by how amazing the store was. Monochrome interior ( my fave), make up studio set ups for you to use, LED lighted mirrors... my dream make up wardrobe basically!! I would say this is where my biggest spend was on my trip, if we saw a Sephora we would go in and take a look and come out with something, guaranteed.

Anastasia Beverley Hills Contour Kit

I did go to New York with the plan to buy the Anastasia Beverley Hills Contour kit though, and its my best purchase yet. Consisting of 3 contour shades and 3 highlighting shades its perfect for every skin tone. Contouring has become a big trend in the make up world and this kit helps you get the look everyone hopes for. With the product being cream it blends into your skin very easily without ending up with major lines all over your face. So if anyone is thinking about buying this, my advice to you is GO AND BUY IT, you'll be all contoured up even if its just for a hour lecture!!!

Naked 2 by Urban Decay

This was a top christmas present given to me from my generous mumma of mine, she seems to pick things up when I'm babbling on all year about new products i like the look of and remembers them even when i forget to put them on my wish list. This palette is fabulousss...from pale shades, sparkly shades to deep dark purples and blacks that can create the perfect look for day and night. I admit at the moment i only use it for special occasions because i don't want to make it dirty or use it too quickly, but when i do use it it brilliant. It even came with 4 different eye primers depending on what look your looking for from nudes to deep shimmers, these primers keep your eye make up on all day and night if needs be!!

Foundation, mascara and contour brush

Lets start with the mascara, $12 for the best mascara I've ever bought...one application and your lashes and flying!! Often it takes a couple of layers to see a difference with other mascara's but this one there is no such issue. Foundation, i was running low on foundation and thought i'd give this ago. Its a pretty good foundation, perfect for my skin tone and doesn't look all cakey. The one thing i would say is mix it in with another foundation that is more liquidy to loosen up the texture so it becomes easier to apply. Finally my contour brush, this brush has become my key brush, without it i would struggle...that sounds dramatic but cut a long story short i thought i originally bought this brush and open it up back at the hotel and i had the wrong one. I was on a mission to go into every Sephora store to replace it for the one i originally found, 4 stores later i found a tester one that had been open but not used, i do not recreate the traipsing around at all now that i know how amazing this little travel brush is. I would recommend it to all.

Kat Von D Everylasting Liquid Lipstick- shade Lolita

When it says 'everlasting'...it means ever lasting. Im not much of a dark lipstick kind of girl but i tried it on and it actually looked ok!! So i bought it and I'm slightly obsessed with it now, i will put it on in the morning and i won't need to re-apply all day...ALL DAY!!

So i have babbled on a little here i know, no change when i look back at my other posts but if in New York hit Sephora girls!!

Winter: My Make up Favourites

With the weather becoming cold and miserable, our skin hits the devil time, I'm talking dry skin, annoying spots and rashes...I have a few make-up must-haves that will help disguise this and also a fabulous energising face wash to help your skin out.

 They're Real-Benefit Mascara

This was actually a freebie in a magazine, yet one of my favourite mascaras. Its actually a primer but does a good enough job to be a main mascara!

Si Giorgio Armani- Perfume

Everyone needs a mini perfume, good to go for a night out, work, day trip what ever your day to day plans are. Also helps that it smells like heavennnn!

High Light- Highlighter

£1.99, £1.99 this little bottle of beauty cost me from TK Max. Perfect for under the brows to give them definition, cheeks to highlight your cheekbones and give you that glow all year round.

MAC concealer

Small but mighty. This concealer is used by professionals to hide as much as tattoos, so if the winter is causing you to break out in spots this item is the way to go! £15, yes expensive but I've had it for 6 months and I'm not even half way through as you only need a dab!

Seventeen Define&Conquer- Contouring Kit

This is one of my favourite items in my make up bag. Easy to apply and easy to blend. I use this on a day to day basis if i want more definition to my face or a settler method instead of bronzer. I will use it for a night out or event along with bronzer and ensure i blend well or ill look like an orange...no one wants that.

EXTREME eyeliner- Collection 2000

The only black liquid pen eyeliner i have ever used, and don't plan on changing anytime soon. A pen for me, is the easiest to apply, its strong and bold and once on will be there until you decide to remove it.

Energising Face wash- Clarins

A gift from my mum when my skin hit a very rough patch. I used this in the morning when i woke up before applying my make up and every so often in the evening to ensure all my make up was off. Within a week my skin cleared up dramatically and felt a lot healthier. Give it a go and see the difference it has!

Blusher- YSL

A palette of a soft pink and a soft sparkly pink to give the natural look of blushed cheeks. This has been in my make up bag for a long time (originally my mums, sorry!) and now mine and its still going strong. Perfect for every occasion.

Kylie's Lip Kit

1 minute. That was all it took for Kylie Jenner's new product to sell out. Most of us girls have been influenced by Kylie Jenner's make up secrets, the lip injection craze and her fashion influence in general.

We can't all afford designer labels and to have a glam team on stand by 24/7 when we need it, but we can afford her lip kit that is priced at $29.00 ( that's about £20 ) for a liquid lipstick that drys matte and a lip pencil!!

There are 3 shades, Candy K, Dolce K and True Brown K. My personal favourites are Candy K and Dolce K! I love the packaging, it combines edginess, fun and will draw attention to anyone. Perfect shades for this winter...
