On my last day at uni, I went along the third year degree show with some friends to take a look at the work that's been done in the final year on my Fashion Communication and Promotion. I took a look round my course, fashion management, and fashion marketing branding. It was exciting to see the sort of work I will be producing in two years time, from zines to full report books. I am looking forward to gaining skills, working with brands and growing as an individual over the next two years.

Wear // Life // Eats
Wear:
I have been so excited for summer, I have a lot planned and a lot to look forward to from festivals, holidays and my birthday. I do love winter for the reasons of big jumpers and fluffy socks but now the sun is making a regular appearance I have really been into wear shorts. In H&M early last week, i found a lovely frilly black pair which I thought could work with a lot of things. I paired them with a black crop top, oversized shirt and my Adidas trainers for a casual look as I headed out to hand in my first-year uni work, whoop whoop!
Life:
I have been super busy recently with uni work, travelling home, seeing friends and family and working. I prefer to be busy than bored, so I am not complaining. I am off to Parklife this weekend so I am busy thinking what to wear to that, then it is my birthday and then I am off on holiday so I have lots of organising to do and a lot of making myself go to the gym to urgently try and get into bikini shape.
Eats:
Well, I would love to say I have been healthy recently, but this may be a slight lie. With celebrating my deadlines I took it upon myself to get a Shakeaway milkshake...peanut and m&m's...o m g INSANE. It was also national doughnut day so of course I had to try the Nottingham Doughnut Company again INSANE. I made enchiladas the other night for dinner which was so good to have a good cooked meal! However, I am back on track now and eating clean to be ready for my holiday.

Axis Skincare- Reflective Journal
Building a brand has been my main focus for the last few weeks. Taking all the research, information and inspiration and bringing it together to come up with ‘AXIS Skincare’. As a team we have come up with a portable skincare product for men on the go, pocket size. We had the task of creating a brand name, logo, strapline, product and packaging design, advertisement and a presentation that demonstrates our concept successfully. This has meant a huge amount of planning, time management and commitment. I have really enjoyed this task as it has allowed a lot more creativity to come into the mix and freedom to explore different methods of communication and promotion.
My scrapbook, Pinterest and magazines played a large part in my creativity and inspiration for this project. By looking at images and drawing sketches into my scrapbook, this has helped me learn the importance of not taking ideas literally but taking a concept and playing around with how I can use It to suit my subject. The photo shoot was a big part of the project, we had to come very prepared with mood boards, timelines and storyboards so the photographer knew exactly what we were looking to create. I got a feel of styling for a photo shoot and the importance of portraying the right image for our brand. Also, we were only giving 45 minutes to get all the images we needed, by having a limited time limit we had to plan out our sessions precisely.
Our presentation was on brand, we had a constant colour palette and imagery that reflected our brand essence. We were clear with what our product was and why we stood out from other competitors. We really tried to channel the fact that men live very busy lifestyles and our product was personal to their quick paced day. As a brand, AXIS Skincare works around your lifestyle, it does not hold you down to a morning or evening routine, its there for when you need it. We focused on organic ingredients that catered to the sensitivity of men’s skin, which is more sensitive than women’s. We learnt through feedback to really push our idea through promotion as much as possible. If advertising in the underground, use the concept than men will see the advert in the morning and again on the way home, by bus stops and then on the bus. Use the idea of movement and time passing as an idea for slogans and constant promotional opportunity for example.
By completing this part of the module I will take forward skills of team work, creativity, pushing the boundaries for ideas and using every opportunity to find and use inspiration by storing ideas and imagery in scrapbooks and online, for future reference. I feel this brief has helped me really understand every component that is required to build a brand and pitch an idea, very helpful in future tasks at university and in a job.

Fashion styling / Monday inspiration
I have always been one to take along shopping if you need a straight forward answer if something looks good on you or not, in a polite way of course or to help put an outfit together. Sometimes a product looks amazing on the hanger but doesn't work for your body shape, but this can always happen in reverse...an item may not look all that much on the rail but may suit your body shape perfectly. I have always been into hair, makeup and clothes...but I have always loved the editorial and extreme ends that could make you look a little crazy going to work in, but that doesn't mean you can't play around with these looks.
I have become a little obsessed with Pinterest recently as its a major role of collecting images for my uni course. I have been really inspired by stylists such as Kate Young, Rachel Zoe, Grace Coddington and Monica Rose...I have really been inspired to focus on this route as a career along with my love for running events! I love the fact there are no limits, you can go as extreme as you feel required to get the look you need. Over the summer, I am excited to build up my portfolio for styling and have some fun with shoots that are creative and push the boundary to the unexpected.

Moodboard- Find your story...
Currently at university, we have been in full swing for our first module of building a scent product/brand. As a team, we have focused on 3 main macro trends that we could research and find a gap in the market for a scent product.
Personalisation-Natural ingredients-Relaxation/Escapism
We have looked into secondary research but focused mainly on primary research to get a more in-depth understanding of our target audience- The Working Women.
We are travelling to London next week to gather further primary research to support out ideas and get a better understand of what 'The Working Women' feels is missing within the scent market.
Personalisation we have discovered is needed in such a crowded industry, the customer needs to feel like the brand is catering for THEM, one does not fit all!
Natural Ingredients have become a large trend over the years with brands like LUSH focusing on this and being very successful. People are far more aware of what products they are putting on their skin and hair so is there a new and creative way to cater towards this issue?
Relaxation and escapism retreats are popular at the moment with people needing to get away from the stress of day to day life, is there a gap in the market to help with this problem?

M A C X AVAF- MAC Nottingham Launch
The new MAC store has opened in Nottingham and it's definitely better than the small store they previously had. The new store consists of products to buy and also a make-up bar area where you can get your makeup done professionally. It had a great bubbly atmosphere and the interior is amazing!! Fun yet sophisticated. At the moment they have a colour carnival of creativity, costumed models, DJ's, live art body painting and makeup bars in full flow, so if you're in Nottingham be sure to go and check it out!
The interior stands out most for me, I love the layout and product placement of having other items that work well together being placed together, the customer can then get an idea of what would work well together. BUT at the back...the MAC sign is gorgeous to me, the electric colour palette sums up the brand, its fun yet it's powerful! I will be booking an appointment to get my make-up done here very soon!

Zara: 'Ungendered'
Perfume started the trend of unisex products, a fragrance for both men and women. This how started to run into fashion lines, we saw Rihanna's new clothing line with Puma demonstrate ungendered clothing and now the worldwide store Zara has just released their very first line.
I have become a regular customer at Zara since moving to Nottingham. If you are the same, you may have noticed the new section under TRF, 'ungendered'. It features unisex basics including t-shirts, tracksuits and jeans modelled by both a male and female model. The fashion industry has a long history of playing around with the rules with gender such as YSL's first Le Smoking suit for women or recently Alessandro Michele's gender-fluid vision for Gucci. The question that stands though, has Zara done this for a trend reason or for a progressive new way of shopping?
I believe there will be an increase in brands following this idea, would this then lead to further equality for women? On the flip side, the collection consists of basics for a reason, t-shirts and sweats....something that men and women both wear anyway....so is it as groundbreaking as it first sounds, I am not sure?!
We will have to wait and see...

Protein pancakes to start off the first day of March
I'm not sure how we are in the month of March, where has the time gone!! For me it's been about juggling university work, cheerleading practice, going back and forth from home and part time work...but one thing I always have time for is a good breakfast to start the day off!
Here are my protein pancakes for you to try, they are fabulous and get me out of bed in the morning, well make it that little easier anyway!
My recipe is from the 'Lean in 15' cookbook by Joe Wicks...
1 banana, roughly chopped
1 scoop of protein powder, I use cookie and cream!
1 egg
25g rolled oats
2 tablespoons of almond milk (you don't have to do this bit, but I find it makes the pancake a little easier to cook)
MIX ALL OF THE ABOVE TOGETHER
Then add coconut oil to a pan and poor small little portions into the pan, then serve with honey, yogurt or berries...or all of them together!!
Enjoy!

Scent market research
With my uni project in full swing, I have been researching the fragrance market and seeing where the gaps lay. We have to build a fragrance brand that provides a scent but something new and put a twist on the market.
I have been out into London and Nottingham, looking into best selling perfumes and products that did not live up to expectation. I asked store experts on why products worked and why some didn't, customers behaviour and if people go straight to a branded perfume or are more experimental with their choices.
I am a lover of the store LUSH. A store full of colour and natural ingrdients, from bath bombs, body moisteriser, make up, soap and so much more!! Scents are everywhere, I just need to find a gap in the market for a specific audience where scent could work in a new context and product and promote

Its a Monday, lets get it together!
With uni work becoming heavy already, when I found this planner in Urban Outfitters today it was not even a question if to buy it. It was more of a question which colour do I go for! It is perfect. Perfect to know what I need to get done, what deadlines I have and just everything to make me feel sane with the hecticness of life at the moment!!
According to www.careergirldaily.com having a journal or notebook can increase productivity, so with their inspiration it is important to focus on 4 things to help you!!
The Small Things
Writing down a simple achievement each day. On those days where you have a million and one things to be doing but would just love to snuggle up on the sofa it can be a great idea to read over all of those little things you have achieved and just remind yourself you can do it!
The Big Things
We all have aspirations, dreams and goals, whether they be in life, relationships or our careers. If there is something you aspire to then tracking your journey to reach that end goal is the best way of ensuring you work hard and don’t slack.
Work through the challenges
Writing down the problems you run into can be the best way of working out how to overcome them, it allows you time to think, process and create a solution.
Put a date on it
Giving yourself a specific time frame for set goals can really help you to prioritise, be realistic and you can really find that you push yourself to achieve what you set out to do.
